The formulas
hours per year = hours per week × weeks per year
hours per month = hours per year ÷ 12
hours actually worked = hours per year − (PTO days + holidays) × hours per workday
FTE = your weekly hours ÷ full-time weekly hours
Working days in the year are counted as Monday-to-Friday dates, not adjusted for your country's public holidays (subtract those yourself, or enter them in the holidays field to see the hours impact).

Frequently asked questions
How many work hours are in a year?
A standard full-time year is 2,080 hours — 40 hours a week × 52 weeks. Subtract paid time off to get hours actually worked: with 15 vacation days and 10 holidays (25 days × 8 hours = 200 hours), that's 1,880 hours.
How many working days are in a year?
It depends on how the weekends fall. 2026 has around 261 weekdays (Monday–Friday). Subtract public holidays for your country to get actual working days.
How is this different from the Hours Worked Calculator?
The Hours Worked Calculator takes the clock times of a specific shift and tells you how long it was. This tool takes your contracted schedule — a number of hours per week — and works out what that adds up to per month and per year. One is 'what did I work today', the other is 'what does my contract come to over a year'.
What is full-time equivalent (FTE)?
Your weekly hours divided by a full-time week. 30 hours against a 40-hour full-time week is 0.75 FTE. Employers use it to compare part-time roles and budget headcount.
Should I use 52 weeks or fewer?
Use 52 for the scheduled total. Reduce it, or use the PTO and holiday fields, when you want the hours you actually work after unpaid or paid time off.
