The formulas

regular pay = regular hours × rate
overtime pay = overtime hours × rate × multiplier
weekly gross = regular pay + overtime pay
annual gross ≈ weekly gross × paid weeks per year

Biweekly and semi-monthly figures come from the annual amount (26 and 24 paychecks a year), so they stay right even when you set fewer than 52 paid weeks.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate hourly pay?
Multiply your regular hours by your rate, then add overtime hours at the overtime rate (usually 1.5×). Example: $18/hour, 40 regular hours + 6 overtime → 40 × $18 + 6 × $27 = $720 + $162 = $882 gross for the week.
$18 an hour is how much a year?
About $37,440 a year at 40 hours a week, 52 weeks ($18 × 2,080), before tax. With regular overtime or unpaid weeks off the real figure differs — this calculator projects it from the hours you actually enter.
What is a blended hourly rate?
When you work overtime, your total gross divided by your total hours is higher than your base rate. If you earn $882 for 46 hours, your blended rate is about $19.17 an hour.
How is this different from the Salary to Hourly Calculator?
This tool starts from an hourly rate and the hours you work, adds overtime, and projects gross pay for a week, paycheck, month, or year. The Salary to Hourly Calculator starts from a fixed annual salary and converts it to an hourly rate for comparing job offers.
Does this show take-home pay?
No — it's gross pay, before tax, Social Security, Medicare, and other deductions. Use the Paycheck Calculator for an after-tax estimate.
