Every result on TinyTools is an estimate generated from the inputs you enter and from published rates and formulas. It is not an official calculation, a payslip, or a tax determination.
Hours and time calculations
Time and time-card tools use standard arithmetic: elapsed time between a start and end, minus unpaid breaks, with shifts that pass midnight counted into the next day. Rounding (if you enable it) follows the increment you choose. These figures are only as accurate as the times you enter.
Overtime
The overtime rule presets (US FLSA 40-hour week, California daily overtime, Ontario 44-hour week, the UK, and a common Australian award pattern) are calculation conveniences, not legal advice. Whether you are entitled to overtime, and at what rate, depends on your employee classification, your award or contract, your state or province, and current law. The tool applies the thresholds and multipliers you select; it does not decide your entitlement. Where a preset omits a rule (for example California's seventh-consecutive-day rule), that is stated on the page.
Salary and pay conversions
Conversions between hourly, weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, monthly, and annual pay use the hours-per-week and weeks-per-year assumptions shown on the page (default: 40 hours, 52 weeks, i.e. 2,080 hours a year). Change those to match your real schedule. "Real hourly rate" divides annual pay by the hours you actually work after paid time off.
Paycheck and take-home pay
The paycheck and take-home tools estimate payroll withholding for United States tax year 2026 only. They combine:
- Federal income tax withholding using the IRS Publication 15-T percentage method (assuming a 2020-or-later Form W-4);
- Social Security (6.2% up to the 2026 wage base of $184,500) and Medicare (1.45%, plus 0.9% Additional Medicare on wages over $200,000);
- State income tax withholding for the supported states only: California, New York, Illinois, Pennsylvania, and the states with no wage income tax (Texas, Florida, Washington, and others).
These are withholding estimates, not the tax you ultimately owe. Your annual tax return reconciles the difference. The tools do not model: tax-return credits and deductions, local city or county taxes (such as New York City, Yonkers, or the Philadelphia wage tax), state disability or unemployment contributions beyond noted cases, wage garnishments, or year-to-date limits across multiple jobs.
If you select a state, country, or tax year that is not supported, the tool says so clearly and does not invent a number. Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia are not yet supported for paycheck calculations.
