Salary to Hourly Calculator
Convert an annual salary to an hourly rate — and to weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, and monthly pay. See your effective hourly rate after vacation and holidays, and compare up to three salaries side by side.
The formulas
hourly rate = annual salary ÷ (hours per week × weeks per year)
annual salary = hourly rate × hours per week × weeks per year
effective hourly = annual salary ÷ (paid hours − time-off hours)
Common salaries at 40 hours a week
| Annual salary | Per hour | Per month |
|---|---|---|
| $30,000 | $14.42 | $2,500 |
| $40,000 | $19.23 | $3,333 |
| $50,000 | $24.04 | $4,167 |
| $60,000 | $28.85 | $5,000 |
| $70,000 | $33.65 | $5,833 |
| $80,000 | $38.46 | $6,667 |
| $100,000 | $48.08 | $8,333 |
| $120,000 | $57.69 | $10,000 |
Why compare in hourly terms?
A salaried offer and an hourly offer are hard to compare directly. Putting both on an hourly basis — and adjusting for the hours each actually expects — shows which one pays more for your time. If a role expects 50-hour weeks, its real hourly rate is a lot lower than salary ÷ 2,080.
